PROJECTS

PROJECTS

PEOPLE has started a new PROJECT SEARCH service for minority contracting firms that may wish to participate. There is no charge for participating and no requirement to respond, react or submit bids for any projects recommended.

Here is how it works.

PEOPLE has requested of certain General Contractors in the area to forward all bid requests on projects requiring or actively seeking minority participation to MWBEbids@gmail.com. This is in addition to the bid invites they will send to you direct; if you are on their bid list. I will review the invitation and forward on to all interested minority contracting firms. If I feel a particular project suits a particular company, I will point that out.

My intent is to prepare a bid list, either weekly or periodically, which will name the project with a brief description of the project; name of GC; contact information for the PM handling the project; bid date; and other pertinent information. If you feel you have interest in pursuing the submission of a proposal on that project, you can take it from there by contacting the individual GC, or you can request that I forward the invite to you along with the link to the plans.

Pretty simple on your part thus far, right?

If you feel you may need some help in estimating, proposal writing or understanding of the project, I would be happy to meet you at Cross Rhodes, 1712 Macklind, at an agreed time and date and see if I may be of help. I will also be available anytime to respond to questions via e mail at PEOPLEofconstruction@gmail.com.

I will start this service with a list of minority firms that I would think would have interest in receiving this bid list. If you are not interested, simply let me know and I will take you off the list. If you are reading this and have not received the first bid list or receive nothing in the next three to four weeks, simply e mail me and ask to be put on the list.

One of the most important ingredients to success in this industry is in the selection of clients and the further selection of the right projects that fit your firm. Perhaps together we can start defining the right list for your individual firm.

I am sure it will take a while before I start receiving all the invites but let’s get started and see how it goes. If you want to be a part, e mail me at PEOPLEof construction and you will be added to this list. I will not be sending this list around to my general membership mailing list as that list includes many firms outside of the industry.

We had a productive, although small in attendance, PEOPLE meeting at Hillsdale in May and my plans are to skip June and July and schedule the next meeting in August or September (maybe both) when summer starts to wind down and vacations are in the books. I will send out a notice in July sometime to further advise you of a date and time for the next meeting.

Have a great summer. If you have any questions or concerns relative to your company, your business plan, your projects, your growth—email me and perhaps I may be of help.
